October 3rd - Rally To End Sex Work Criminalization in Canada!

Sex Workers Launch Constitutional Court Challenge to fight against criminal laws. Rally and Speak-Out ! 12:45pm - 1:45 pm, October 3, 2022 (Mon) Ontario Superior Court, Toronto (ON) 330 University Avenue Please bring red umbrellas and slogans if you have them!

Sex workers are going back to court to fight against criminal laws that harm us. On October 3rd through 7th the Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform will be at the Ontario Superior Court having our constitutional challenge to Canada's anti-sex work laws heard in court! Learn more about the constitutional challenge and the legal position taken by the Alliance and other applicants here. On Monday, October 3rd at 12:45pm we will rally at Ontario Superior Court (330 University Ave) alongside the Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform, Butterfly Asian And Migrant Sex Worker Support Network and Sex Professionals of Canada! In 2014, the Conservative government passed the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act (PCEPA) that forced sex workers to work in a context of criminalization. Instead of protecting sex workers - as it claimed to do - PCEPA violates our rights and autonomy, increases stigmatization and isolation, and endangers our health and safety! We need to end criminalization so that we can live and work safely and freely! Court hearings begin at 10am on October 3rd, and continue throughout the week. Join us to show your solidarity with sex workers in our fight to end the criminalization of sex work! Sex work is work! Not a crime! Sex workers’ rights are human rights! Full decriminalization of sex work now!
