Our Black SW Survival Fund Is Closing November 30th!

A special thanks to our donors + community for supporting the fund!

We're closing the Black SW Emergency Survival Fund as of November 30th and distributing remaining funds offline through our programs + services!

From the bottom of our hearts we'd like to thank our donors and supporters for amplifying our COVID-19 Black SW Emergency Survival Fund and announce our intention to close the fund on November 30th. We launched the fund in November 2020 to respond to the unique barriers Black SW in our community face, impacted both by the pandemic and increased policing efforts across Toronto and the GTA. This fund was also an important step in addressing the realities of anti-Black racism, both in various areas of sex work and in our movement for sex worker justice, by providing tangible resources and supports to community members historically ostracized and left behind in our organization. Since launching the fund last year we have raised more than $130,000 and provided grants to more than 600 Black SW in our community. This is the largest solo fundraising effort in our organizations' history and part of our COVID-19 response efforts alongside vaccine clinics, emergency foodboxes, mental health and legal supports. We are so thankful for your support through the pandemic and could not have done any of this without you.

Managing Your Donation to Maggie's

For those who donated to the Black SW Survival Fund and set up recurring, monthly donations: Maggie's uses a charitable giving platform called CanadaHelps to facilitate our donations. When we close the Black SW Survival Fund on November 30th, CanadaHelps will automatically redirect donations to our Street Outreach Fund. For security purposes, the platform does not give organizations the option to cancel or divert individual donations. This means that you will need to manually cancel your donation to Maggie's to stop your monthly contribution. To cancel your donation to Maggie's once we close the Black SW Survival Fund you will need to do so directly through CanadaHelps! If you do not cancel your donation it will be automatically diverted to our Street Outreach Fund, providing harm reduction supplies, care packages and winter essentials to community members who access our services through street outreach.

Targeted Donations at Maggie's

As the pandemic continues to devastate communities across the city, we're seeing increased need across all of our programs. We run a number of targeted funds that allow you to donate directly to the programs and services that matter most. Stay tuned as we launch a whole host of new programming in 2022!
